Trump threatens 200% alcohol tariffs on EU countries
President Donald Trump has threatened the European Union with 200% tariffs on alcohol
after the EU announced a slate of tariffs on American products beginning next month. The EU announced a 50% tariff on whiskey, a measure Trump decried as “nasty” in a Truth Social post. “If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES. This will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S.”
