President Trump said on Wednesday that he did not think the results were good for the

Republican Party or the American public. “It was not expected to be a victory. I don’t think it was good for Republicans. I’m not sure it was good for anybody, but we had an interesting evening, and we learned a lot,” Mr. Trump said at a breakfast with Republican senators at the White House. “Trump wasn’t on the ballot and the shutdown were the two reasons that Republicans lost elections tonight,” Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social.
