Vought, who describes our current moment as not quite midnight for America but more like

11:59 p.m., and speaks repeatedly about the need to “save the country,” places great emphasis on retracing conservatism’s steps in an effort to find where it went wrong. He says that at his organization’s events, attendees will find themselves being given books. Vought also talks about the president retaking power from Congress, and in particular the power to impound funds appropriated by Congress but are neither needed nor wanted.
