To: Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV)
Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ)
Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto (D-NV)
Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO)
Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH)
Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ)
Senator Jon Tester (D-MT)

All seven Democrat Senators narrowly won their last election. That makes them vulnerable to pressure from voters who are outraged by Biden’s “gun-grabber” ATF Director nominee, David Chipman.
All seven Democrat Senators are in states with a large percentage of Republican voters and heavily populated by law-abiding gun-owning voting age citizens.
Dear Senators Manchin, Sinema, Cortez-Masto, Bennet, Hassan, Kelly, and Tester,
Whereas, Chipman, a former 25 year special agent for the ATF, exaggerates gun violence as when he falsely claimed in the 1993 Waco siege that Branch Davidians shot down two Texas Air National Guard helicopters with .50 caliber Barretts. Helicopters were fired upon, but none were shot down. In fact, no .50 caliber weapons were recovered at the Waco compound after former Attorney General Janet Reno ordered the raid; and

Whereas, Chipman is working for the Giffords gun control lobbying group whose mission is combating the NRA, the largest gun owners safety group in America, and

Whereas, Chipman openly mocked new gun owners by advising them to “Hide it behind the cans of tuna and beef jerky that you’ve stored in the cabinet,” and considers all American gun owners cultish survivalists, and
Whereas, Chipman stated in an MSNBC interview that he believes Secret Service agents should not carry firearms, and

Whereas, Chipman has stated that people who fail a gun background check should be arrested on the spot aiming “. . . to arrest people before committing a crime”;

Therefore, I, the undersigned, do hereby urge you to help save and preserve America’s 2nd Amendment and vote “NO” on the confirmation vote to place David Chipman as President Biden’s new director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, (ATF).
