Clarence Thomas hasn’t always been a conservative. Most would be shocked to learn his

early thinking was heavily influenced by Malcolm X, who understood the duplicity of people who call themselves progressives: “The worst enemy that the Negro has is this white man that runs around here drooling at the mouth professing to love Negros and calling himself a liberal.” This is a message that has been reinforced over and over again.
