New Virginia Attorney General Fires Entire Civil Rights Branch of the AG’s Office

Virginia’s new Attorney General, Jason Miyares fired 30 employees in the Virginia Attorney

General’s office, including the entirety of the Civil Rights Division. Spokeswoman Victoria LaCivita said the new AG was “restructuring the office, as every incoming AG has done in the past.” She noted that Miyares and former AG Mark Herring, whom Miyares narrowly defeated in November, “have very different visions for the office.”
