Jackson Earns Jabs from Liberal Justice as Colleagues Increasingly Rebuke Her in Opinions

The Supreme Court granted a stay of a lower court ruling that halted the Trump

administration’s mass layoffs. Jackson was the sole dissenting voice. In a concurring opinion, Sonia Sotomayor shut down Jackson’s arguments. “I agree with JUSTICE JACKSON that the President cannot restructure federal agencies in a manner inconsistent with congressional mandates,” Sotomayor wrote. “Here, however, the relevant Executive Order directs agencies to plan reorganizations and reductions in force ‘consistent with applicable law.'”
