Republican governors are quietly leaning on one of their former colleagues while pressing
the NCAA to bar biological men and women from competing against one another. It is the latest in an ongoing debate over transgender athletes in women’s sports. Led by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, nine states brought their case directly to NCAA President Charlie Baker, warning the former Mass GOP governor that, without a change in rules, “truly remarkable female athletes” were at risk of being dominated by “average male athletes.”
