Expected Trump-DeSantis showdown crowds out rivals in fledgling GOP presidential race

A recent Monmouth University survey showed former president Trump and Gov. Ron

DeSantis were far and away the first names on the minds of Republican voters when asked whom they would like to see as the Republican nominee for president. Of the 566 Republicans who responded, 66% of them named Mr. Trump or Mr. DeSantis as their top-of-mind preferred pick, 24% did not know, and the remaining 10% was spread out among the lower-tier contenders.
