Record SW Border Encounters: 2,378,944 in FY 2022

The nearly 2.4 million migrant “encounters” along the border in fiscal year 2022 – the most

ever recorded. In the final month of FY 2022, there were a total of 227,547 encounters, an 18.51 percent increase from the 192,001 recorded in September 2021. For the fiscal year as a whole, CBP reported 2,378,944 encounters along the U.S.-Mexico border, a 37.13 percent increase from the 1,734,686 encounters reported in fiscal year 2021.
